The rest of the work week pays off too

I got my first paycheck yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the amount. It was unexpected and not as much as I was hoping to make per week, but considering that it was four days worth of pay, I ain't complaining. It was more than any of the paychecks that I received from my last job (which just added to that horrible experience).

I'm looking forward to next week's pay too because I've been working in some way, shape or form everyday this week. I'm off on Saturday and there has been talk about a small beach party. Unfortunately I have to go in for a short staff meeting, but the day is mine thereafter.

All in all, I was right not to worry about this month, even though I got bills to pay. (5)

Two days work paid off

Yesterday I completed my orientation at my new job and it was very inspiring. I know that sessions like that are to basically introduce new employees and condition them to want to stay employed with the employer, but I couldn't help feeling that there is a possibility that I could come out of this with more that just work experience. Considering that I have a good twenty years of varied work experience, it's nice to be at a place that appears to care. I want to keep a positive attitude because there is opportunity there and I want to be able to seize it when my turn is up.(5)

On a lighter(or darker) note, I went and saw The Dark Knight yesterday evening and it was beyond awesome. A great film that was nice and long with plenty of plot twists and character depth. Christian Bale definitely has given the Batman/Bruce Wayne character better dimension than George Clooney did in the past. However, Bale was clearly out shined by Heath Ledger's Brokeback Joker. As in Batman Begins, it was nice to see the appearance of multiple villains instead of the typical "arch-villain and goons", with a cameo from the Scarecrow and reference to Catwoman. Even Michael Jai White, who played Spawn had a role. For some reason the film seemed to edited in some parts, but this is Bermuda and there's always some conservative concern over graphic depiction of anything.(4)

Why, oh why?

It's been nearly a month and I haven't been back to give an inkling of update. So much has happened in this time that has passed.

I started the new job.

Quit the new job.

Took my finals.

Started another new job.

And now I'm tired from the past four days of working for a lot less that I think I'm worth. Hopefully when my full pay rate kicks in after this coming orientation, things will be better. Considering that the last two jobs I had both owe me money, I think I need to be a lot more selective about where I work and who I work for.

As for now, I'm going to put in some update time with my other blog. I feel that I've neglected that for too long as well. (8)
