Where has the time gone?

After such a good month of posting, this month has turned out to be tougher. The semester is coming to a close. When I was sick last week it really took me out of action. That was the week I was supposed to begin all of my end-term projects, so I fell behind in work a little. Now I'm a bit caught up but my postings had to suffer. So a quick recap of the past week and a half.

I was sick. A cold that set in for about a week. I'm finally finished with it, but it looks like the virus has been spreading around school, work and home. I'm hoping that I'm completely immunized from any further illness this season. I'm back to eating salads daily now, so that should help.

Work sucks. Mainly because I can't seem to get any shifts. My last pay check was just a shadow of what I'm used to. Needless to say, it's not enough to live on. Luckily I have rent for next month already, but unless something else comes along I'll be struggling when the new year comes. Truth be told, I really just want to make sure that I have money for school.

The assignments were piling up, but they're also getting done. Yesterday I handed in my ACC1145 assignment, which I did dedicate more than a reasonable amount of time to. I got a perfect score on the last assignment. I'm shooting for perfect on this one too. The last semester exam before the final exam is on Tuesday. Of the three exams and three assignments my lowest score so far is an A-. The lowest score of the six gets dropped. I think I'm in a good position. All my work is up to date in ENG1111, but I think I missed some errors on my last essay. The essay that follows is the same with research elements. It's not due until December 1st. Plenty of time to focus on other assignments. Besides, it's all but ready to be evaluated by the professor. ECM1110's assignment is due next Thursday, but that's done as well. I just have to check it over, but the website appears to look just like the instructor's sample. ECM1101 and ECM1120 have my full attention right now. ECM1120's assignment is due on Wednesday and that's what I'm working on today. ECM1101's assignment is due on Thursday. I've been putting together a business plan for an ecommerce site. It's coming along, but I have to detail it a bit more. When these deadlines come I should be fine. I know that I won't look at any ENG until next Thursday and ACC will get minimal studying time the day of the exam (maybe some on Sunday). The way I see it, I could get four A's and an A- this semester, in addition to a Pass for the RSO. I just have to get this work done, then it's final exam review and study time.

I've been playing chess in my spare time (what little I have) and I'm getting better. I've read three Robert Jordan books and my taste for literature has developed. Other than that, my main goal is to focus on the tasks at hand and finished on top. Nobody said it would be easy, and I knew it would take effort and hardwork. But it looks like it's going to get done. (9)

I came down with a little cold

Which really sucks. All the time I had off yesterday and tomorrow, Remembrance Day, I have to spend laid up with a stuffy head. I'm usually good about this and never really let any illness get the best of me. Considering all of the factors I let myself slip.

Last Thursday I rode home in the rain. The next day I sat at home while my cousin smoked cigarettes indoors. That's something she usually doesn't do. Then I worked that night and ate some food that facilitated the whole illness. I stayed up late playing chess after work, when I should've just went home and got rest. I had to work Saturday with a sore throat. Yesterday I tried to rest it off, but it was too much. By this morning it had moved from my throat to my chest. And now it's in my head. Tomorrow I guess I'll be laid up. Maybe I can get started on the last final project I have to start.

I had the opportunity to dine in college's school luncheon with the Premier today, the Honorable Dr. Ewart Brown. The guy's got it down, I must admit. He fielded questions from the college students and interns present, answering them deftly. It was a bit sad the questions that were asked, but compared to what I had planned to ask, they were a bit more politically oriented. I never got to ask my question, which didn't bother me much. I find Bermuda's public relations a farce. However, I do agree with the views of Dr. Brown. I really don't know why so many people dislike him.

I feel like crap and I should be home now. I don't think I'll be staying here on campus much longer. I need some rest. (5)

Yesterday's playlist's second track

Would've been Dove by Cymande. A song that starts with smooth tension and then relaxes into a jazzy ease that's just kick ass. That's what yesterday was like for me. I worked my ass off on that ACC1145 assignment. It's complete though.

Before that I had to deal with ENG1111. The professor's away and left me responsible for attendance. I really didn't want to. Why? Because the class is a bunch of high schoolers who don't take the class seriously at all. I'm aiming for an A, they're aiming for a not-an-F. I told the professor that I didn't want to do it. I take things like that too seriously. Mainly because I don't like the attention that I get when I'm put in a position of authority. I don't like manipulation and I automatically shut it out. People don't like this. Especially this one kid who thought that I cared what he thought. He tried to hi-post and got chumped. God, I hate punks. I'll have to give the professor some words too.

After that class I spent the rest of the day in the library doing my ACC1145 assignment. It took me about five hours, but I'm sure it's an A. At least it's done. Right now I'm tired and wondering if I can get a paper into SmartThinking by tomorrow, and back by Friday. That would be ideal. (9)

Today needed a playlist

And the first song on it would've been from Ghostface's Supreme Clientele; We Made It.

Barack Obama's going to the White House. I seen it coming and the media couldn't do a thing to dampen the people's voices or votes. I watched coverage all over the place and over here it was giving these numbers with this commentary, while over there they were telling another story. Regardless, he's in. And Americans can feel proud because Obama fixed the system. Democracy works again.

My concern is over my brothers, sisters, and I. I hope we don't crab-in-a-bucket the brother. He's inheriting an economic, military, and social quagmire. GWBush walked into office without any war or deficit. In fact he was given a huge surplus to work with and basically used it to start a war. It can be conceded that 9/11 was a challenge, but look how he handled that. But the brothers...

We as black people need to realize that Obama is not our free ride. In addition to that Obama owes us nothing. He's a politician, and now a president(-elect). He's got his game to play. Considering the condition of the playing field, his equipment and the other team, I think we need to cut him a lot of slack if he makes some errors. He didn't make it to the White House by promising that every black American will finally get their 40 acres and a mule. Let him do what he's supposed to; allow Americans, regardless of race, color, or creed, to be proud of their leader, their country and themselves. Obama! (7)

Accounting homework isn't done yet

I still haven't started my ACC1145 homework and it's due on Thursday. I really dislike Accounting and that's why it isn't done yet. I tried to get started on it early this morning, but I just can't seem to get into it. I have all day tomorrow to get it done, so I'll spend the day doing that. I might even start it this evening if I can finish my ENG1111 revision for Wednesday.

But on a good note, I did most of my ECM1110 final project, with the exception of the things we haven't learned yet. I still have to go through a lot of the code because while the stylesheet looks fine in Firefox, it looks like total crap in IE. I'll have to ask the professor about that, but I'm pretty sure that if it looked passable in IE he'd let it slide. Mine doesn't look passable at all. I think what I have to do is remove all the padding code. That seems to be throwing off the div dimensions. I got plenty of time to deal with that though.

Last month was great for posting. I more than doubled the previous months posts which is good and steady. This month I'm already behind a bit, but if I keep up the posting with all the things I got going on, then I can keep a regular posting schedule. That's important to me. (9)
